Obituary for William Mark Warnick

Warnick, Mark
1949-2022

Surrounded by his adoring family with “My Sweet Lord”, by George Harrison playing in the background, Mark Warnick passed peacefully on March 27, 2022 at 9 pm, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Nancy Warnick (nee Jeffrey), of 50 years and his four devoted children, Reagan (Kirk) Franklin, Brennan (Nikki) Warnick, Matthew Warnick (Amanda Ladd) and Sean Warnick (Dylan Meyerhoffer) and his five beloved grandchildren, Seamus, Riese & Maeve Franklin, Ryann, Lila & William Warnick.

Predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Helen Warnick (nee Grightmire) and stepfather Dale Cahill, of Dundas and brother Michael Warnick (Debbie) of Kitchener.

Will be greatly missed by siblings Gregory and Kathleen Warnick of Ancaster, and Elizabeth and Brian Harrington of Hamilton, Deidre Warnick and John (Sharon) Warnick of Dundas. He was an amazing brother-in-law and uncle to many extended family members on both the Warnick and Jeffrey sides.

Mark started his CPA career at Touche-Ross & Co. in Toronto. He founded his own firm in Ingersoll in 1984, which then grew into MW&Co, as it is known today. Mark retired in 2020 and will be sorely missed his by partners, colleagues, and clients.

Mark demonstrated his selfless commitment to his community with his active involvement in multiple roles within; the Ingersoll Charitable Community Foundation, the Ingersoll Rotary Club, the Ingersoll Golf and Country Club and ITOPA

In 2006, to a standing ovation, he was honoured as the citizen of the year by the Ingersoll Chamber of Commerce. In his speech he spoke of the honour of carrying on our family tradition of community service that began with his grandfather J.L. Grightmire, a recipient of the same award.

Willy was always quick with a joke, his wit was legendary among his closest friends whether they were at the Golf Club, the Curling Club, or Whiskey Fridays in his backyard around the fire.

If you know Mark, you would know that he would never have wanted this fuss made about him.

The family would like to give thanks to the amazing nurses, doctors, and staff at LHSC, Victoria Campus, CCU and CCTC. Special thanks go out nurses, Amanda, Maddy, Marisa, the Rebeccas, Marianne, and to Lilian who aided so much in his peaceful passing and the comfort provided by the Chaplain, Jennifer. We will be forever grateful.

We will be having an open house celebration of Mark’s life with one final Good Whiskey Friday, on April 15th, at the Ingersoll Golf Club from 5pm to 10pm.

If you wish to make a donation in Mark’s memory please consider Bryanston United Church, or the Ingersoll Community Charitable Foundation.

Arrangements entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 519-425-1600.
