KEELEY, Arthur

A humble life that came to an end, he died how he lived, as everyone’s friend.

Art Keeley passed away June 28, 2020 in his 80th year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Keeley (Smith). Father of John (Tina) and Denise (Jackson’s father, Don). Grandfather of Emily, Nick, and Jack. Raised by his grandparents, Jack, and Lillian Witcombe, and survived by his four “brothers”, Leroy and Paul Pearson and Ray and Rick Witcombe, and their families.

A small private ceremony will be held Friday, July 3, 2020. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all his family and friends.

Thank you to the staff at Ingersoll Hospital and Woodingford Lodge for their recent care and kindness. A big thank you to his family, friends, and neighbours (St. James’ family too) for many years of love and friendship.

Donations in Art’s memory can be made to St. James Anglican Church or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll 519-425-1600.

Farewell to a “super nice person”
Art and I attended VMS and since we both lived on King St. East - quite often we walk walk home together.
We reconnected several years ago when transferred back into this area. Over the last number of years I would see Art cutting grass or welcoming people to a church function or at the grocery store particularly after Ruth’s passing.
Sometimes life is just too short to accomplish everything that we want to do. Rest In Peace my friend .

To Art's entire family: We would like to send our sincere condolences to everyone. I, Jim Hughes worked with Art for several years at Standard Tube. We became friends and continued our friendship after I left to farm. We lost contact with him and Ruth and later learned of Ruth's passing. We kept in touch once in awhile over the past years. I am so glad I got to know and work with him. He truly was a humbling person. Will truly miss him.. My heart goes out to his family, John and family and Denise and family. ( they might not ever remember my wife (Pat) and I. God bless him. He will truly be missed by many. Love to everyone.. Jim and Pat Hughes

To John, Tina and Denise,
We just heard about your dad’s death. We are so saddened by the news. There were no better neighbours in the area than your dad and your mum. Our neighbourhood along Oxford and Ann Streets was a great place to live especially because of people like the Keeley’s. When Art started working at St. James’ we were all the better for it. His smiling face greeting people on Sunday mornings lifted spirits. His loving care of and for St. James’ was evident. Art was a man of great humility, a wonderful sense of humour - a true gift from God. You are in our prayers during this time of change in your family and in your lives.

With hugs and affection,
Sue+ & Dave McCullough
