Obituary for Suzanne Marian CUMMINGS

Mom was our constant. She taught us that having a sense of humour and treating others with respect and kindness were significant keys to handling any situation with ease. Sue was an avid reader and a fantastic baker. She enjoyed spirited phone conversations with friend Helen, Sister Beth and sharing a tea with Cheryl. Most of all she loved spending time with her family with which she was so proud. Anyone who knew our Mom will have a funny anecdote of their time with her. This fact is critical to understanding our Mom. She wanted everyone to feel loved and accepted at all times, yet never fully grasped how important she was to so many others. She remained humble and kind into her final hours. She didn’t want anyone to fuss over her even when she needed it most. We will miss her in ways we have not comprehended yet. We will carry on the values that she demonstrated during her fulfilled life.
Born November 15, 1932, Sue passed away at Woodstock General Hospital on Friday, September 1st, 2017 in the presence of her children Peter, Kathy Rylett (Matt) and Heather (Graham Cochrane). Cherished Grandma of Ryan, Brett, Brock and Mya Jenken and Jamie and Nolan Cochrane. Dear sister of Beth Kales (Joe, 2011), and Bob Purton (Laurette). Predeceased by her husband George (2010), father Charles Purton (1979) and mother Marian Purton (2006). Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends but especially Helen Ferguson, her best friend for over 40 years.
Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South Ingersoll on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 10 -11:15 am with the funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment later in Duart Cemetery. Memorial donations to Oxford County Library, Ingersoll Branch would be appreciated.
