Obituary for Ronald James McGINNIS

McGINNIS: Ronald James – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald James McGinnis at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, On, September 14, 2015 in his 86th year. Dad was born August 30, 1930 at Ingersoll,On. Predeceased by his parents Daniel John and Irene Constance (Wallace) McGinnis, and by his beloved wife of forty-nine years Agnes Mary (Stirling) McGinnis (1999). Dearly loved Dad to daughters, Joanne Irene Butcher (Bracebridge,On) and Nancy Winnifred (Don) Lemp (Ingersoll,On) . A very proud and loving Grandpa to Darci Butcher (Toronto,On), Ron (Kim) Lemp (Woodstock,On), Christie Lemp (Woodstock,On) and Jamie (Becky) Butcher (Bracebridge, On). A special Great-Grandpa to Joey and Josh Lemp and Nessa and Finley Butcher. Survived by Grace Turner and family.  Dad was a much loved brother-in-law to the “Stirling” clan (John Stirling, Mary Tait, Ken Moore, Dan Stirling, Robert Stirling) and Uncle Ron to many nieces and nephews. As a youth and young man, Dad spent good times with his “McGinnis” and “Wallace” cousins. Those memories were a great comfort to Dad over the past few years.  Several of Dad’s cousins still survive in Canada and the USA.  Thank- you to Phil, Mark, Dr Roth and the staff of the Pinecrest Unit at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, Ontario for the care and kindness you showed to Dad, especially your compassion the last two weeks. A special thank-you to Kathryn for all your help in taking Dad to his appointments.  Following Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation and memorial service will be held at McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street S., Ingersoll, on Friday September 25, 2015. Visitation from 12:30-1:45pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 2pm.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Oxford or the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques accepted).
