Obituary for Ronald Charles BARTON

Passed away peacefully, in his sleep, on November 12, 2015 at Woodingford Lodge, Ingersoll in his 93rd year. A Loving and devoted husband to the late Violet Barton (nee Wells, 2005). He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela (2007), and brother, Arthur (2011). He is survived by his son, Michael (Patty), grandchildren Angela (Omar), Timothy (Jen), and Darryl (Jenny). He was the great grandfather to Benjamin (Ben), Pamella (Ella), and Katherine (Kate). He is fondly remembered by surviving in-laws and family in England. Originally from London, Ron immigrated to Canada and settled in Ingersoll in 1955. A fighter plane mechanic for the British Navy in the Second World War, and a skilled plumber in civilian life, Ron was as clever with his humour as he was with hands. A common man with an uncommon love and devotion to his family; those who knew him quickly recognized his gentle and compassionate nature, and desire to help anyone who needed his assistance. He and his wife Violet enjoyed their retirement, split between a cottage at Long Point in the summer, and adventuring in the United States in the winter, until their final return to Ingersoll in 2003. A special thanks to staff at both the Oxford Manor in Ingersoll, and Woodingford Lodge in Ingersoll, for their kind and attentive care to Ron as he battled with deepening dementia over the past six years. Cremation has taken place. A visitation to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, November 21, 2015. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
