Obituary for Bob Christie

CHRISTIE, Robert Arthur (Bob)

On November 2, 2021, Robert (Bob) Arthur Christie of Ingersoll went to be with Jesus after an unexpected health crisis. He is survived by his faithful wife, Jill (Jackson) Christie of 60 years, his daughter, Janice and her husband Jerry McDonald and their son, Cole, as well as his son, Jeffrey (Bimmer) and his wife Shelly Christie and their son, Jeffrey. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Nancy Christie of London and his brother, Ted, of Toronto.

Since coming to Ingersoll for a teaching position at Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute in 1965, he taught French and German for 33 years and involved himself in many community activities. He played hockey until his 80th year, plus enjoyed golf and curling. He also was a wood carver and completed several community projects.

Bob was an avid musician with a wonderful voice and an ability to harmonize. He sang in a number of community choirs, including the Rockin’ Oldies and the Embro Thistle Singers. He also learned how to play the violin and harmonica which he did whenever he could.

He loved the Lord and participated in church activities.

Cremation has occurred. A service/funeral will take place on Monday, November 8th, 2021, at his church at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of drop-in visitation beforehand. Hi-Way Pentecostal Church,584118 Beachville Road, Ingersoll. A joyful celebration of life will take place in the spring.

Heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll for their wonderful care during his amazing final battle. Also, to friends, relatives, and the family of God for their heartfelt sympathy and compassion to Jill and all.
