Obituary for Marion Ruth LAZENBY

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Ruth Lazenby (nee Freeman) of Ingersoll, Ontario.
Beloved wife of the late Bill Lazenby (June 11, 2013). Loving mother of Carol Bartram, Ron (Hollie), and Marilyn Lazenby (Dick Butterworth). Cherished grandma of Issac, Simon, Krystal, Sadie, Luke, Oliver and great grandchildren Alice, Robyn, and Maisy. Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Rosemary (Daniel) Freeman, her brothers Reg, Fred and sisters Evelyn and Lorene.
She was born and raised in Mount Elgin, the youngest of five. As a teenager, she played basketball even though she was vertically challenged. Mom married our dad in August 1950. In her early days she was a devoted, caring mother, avid homemaker who loved flower and vegetable gardening. Every Saturday she went into town to get her hair done and most Saturday nights our dad and her went dancing.
Marion enjoyed entertaining family and friends, playing cards and being involved in the West Oxford community. She was an excellent cook and baker, her family thought her homemade macaroni and cheese was the best in the whole wide world.
In 2000 after 50 years on the farm near Centreville they moved to town. Here she was free to walk to her favourite coffee spots twice a day to meet her good friends. We are thankful to have had our feisty little Mom for so long and we will miss her dearly.
As per Mom’s request there will be no funeral service. Interment will happen in the Spring.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 519-425-1600.
