Howe, Mabel Isabel (Jean) (nee Wilson) - February 27, 1933 – May 12, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother Jean Howe, peacefully at Sakura House on May 12, 2020.

Loving mother of James (Alice) Howe, Ann Zavitz, Nancy Kirwin (Mike), Charlie (Melanie) Howe, & John (Carol) Howe.
Loving grandmother of Aaron (Laura) Howe, Sara Yearley, Nicole (Dave) Schell, Brittany Zavitz, Bridget (Kale) Patience, Isaac (Tara) Kirwin, Rebecca and Alycia Howe, & Nicole Braber. Proud great grandma of nine.
Predeceased by husband Glen Howe (December 2000), Son in-law Paul Zavitz (August 1992), Daughter Vickie Howe (November 2012), & Grandson Jason Howe (February 2012).
Survived by siblings Charlie Wilson, Margaret Bell, Art (Joyce) Wilson, Bill (Mary) Wilson, & Brother in-law Ivan Howe.
Predeceased by John (Elfrieda) Wilson, Don (Betty) Wilson, James Bell, Leola Wilson, Beulah Wilson, & Gord & Evelyn Hollingshead, Beatrice Howe.

Jean will be missed by several nieces and nephews and all who knew her.

She raised 6 children, milked cows, baked thousands of pies, and other delicious treats over the years. She was an avid knitter of afghans which she loved to give to family and friends. Mom was known to be a “feisty” lady – she always said exactly what was on her mind. Mom was an extremely hard worker her whole life and lived on the same farm in Crampton for 54 years. She loved going to church and seeing all her friends every Sunday. She also loved Fish & Chips.

Thank you to the staff at Oxford Manor, Ingersoll, and Sakura House for looking after Mom during her time there. It is a great comfort to know how well she was cared for.

A private family gathering will be held at McBeath and Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll. A Celebration of Life will be held later.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to Reynolds Creek United Church, Putnam or VON Sakura House are greatly appreciated.

I sat behind jean in church over the last five years and we had many interesting talks before church started. She was very proud of her family and talked about them and shared pictures. We even thought we were distantly related. I could tell how well loved she was in the church and in her home. Jean loved our morning breakfasts with the church family all around the table in any restaurant.
I was always amazed at how enthusiastic she was and willing to participate even when I am sure she did not always feel well.
I for one will miss her and always remember how welcome she made me feel when I first came to Reynold's Creek United Church.

Our condolences to the Howe family. Jean was not only our neighbor but we considered her our friend. She not only had a great sense of humor but will miss her candid conversations. She was a remarkable, strong, honest woman and we were honored to have known her. She will be missed.

My condolences to the family. I have great memories of lunches and dinners during haying season. She worked hard on the farm and then made great meals. Jean was funny, had a great sense of humour and an infectious smile.
