Obituary for Lorna Ruth  Van Kooten (Orris)

With family by her side, Lorna Ruth (Orris) Van Kooten went to be with her Lord and Saviour at Alexandra Hospital on May 1st, 2016 at the age of 68. Lorna is survived by her loving husband, Gary of 45 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children Kristy (Rob Bossence), BJ (Lori Barker) and adopted daughter and son, Angela and Ruel Green and grandson Jace Green. She will be forever missed by her twin sisters Lucille (Garnet) Gutz of Eganville, and Louise Duncan of St. Thomas and their families. Her smile and laughter will be sadly missed by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins from the Orris, Stover and Van Kooten families. She was the daughter of the late Lorne and Marjorie (Stover) Orris, and predeceased by her only brother George Orris. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Anthonie and Francina Van Kooten. Lorna was born in Kingsmill, ON in 1947. She graduated from the Nursing Assistant Program in 1969 and worked at numerous hospitals in Ontario until 1998. She then started her second life after a lifesaving 7 Heart Bypass Surgery in which she considered this to be an extension of her first life and felt she was only 18 again. She actively supported her husband and children’s activities whether they be music, volunteer or sporting games. While working she was very active with her union and always supported all of her nursing family. Family and friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2-8 pm. The celebration of life service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 184 Oxford Street, Ingersoll on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11 am with Reverend James Carr officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will follow at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethany Place or Kiwanis Club of Ingersoll.
