Obituary for Ken McKellar

McKELLAR, Kenneth (Ken) Sutherland

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth (Ken) Sutherland McKellar on Sunday May 16th, 2021 at age 73.
Best friend and loving husband to wife Barb (née Gould). He will always be the love of her life.
Ken was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by his siblings Gord (Pat), Jean (Bill),
Doris (Dawson) (John), and Isobel. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Grant and Helen McKellar.

Ken was an Associate Professor at King’s University College Western University.
He was dedicated to his profession and his students. He was known to be kind, compassionate, and encouraging. He taught and wrote and lived with integrity - and with a great deal of humour.

He was proud of his Scottish heritage and could always be found every July 1st at the Embro Highland Games. The music of the bagpipes ran through his blood.

Ken and Barb loved to travel, and they shared a common love for France which they both considered their home away from home.

A passionate amateur photographer, Ken enjoyed the many hours of laughter he shared with his close friend on their photography excursions.

Ken valued his friends and the time they spent together. He will be remembered for his kindness, his humility, his loyalty, his sense of humour and his quick wit. He will be greatly missed.

At Ken’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In Ken’s memory donations may be made to Vasculitis Foundation Canada (vasculitis.ca), the Ontario Veterinary Pet Trust Fund (ovc.uoguelph.ca), or a charity of your choice.

Please raise a glass of your favourite beverage in his honour – and if it is a single malt whiskey then all the better.
