Obituary for Joyce Margaret THOMASSON

Passed peacefully in her sleep on September 14, 2017. She was in her 97th year.
Predeceased by her husband Trueman John Williams Thomasson, she was cherished mother to Laurie (Clarke), Barbara, Bruce (Betty), Mary Beth (Scott). With love, she helped nurture her 9 grandchildren to adulthood who in turn provided her with 13 adorable great grandchildren. Siblings David, Ruth and Gilbert predeceased her.
Born in PEI, she spent most of her formative years as a child of missionaries Frances (Compton) and Archibald Russel Graham in India, returning to Canada for her post-secondary education. Completing her public health nurse designation, she traveled north to Cochrane where she met her life partner “Tommy”. Together they raised their family in southwestern Ontario following his career in education and hers in nursing. Mother, nurse, wife she was guided by her strong religious convictions. Deeply saddened by the premature loss of her husband, she regrouped and divided her time between family, extensive travel, and volunteer work particularly with youth and with adult rehabilitation.
Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2:30-3:15 pm, with a family service at 3:30 pm to recognize a life well lived and a strong woman well appreciated.
