Obituary for Jon Paul BOWMAN

Jon Bowman

Jon passed peacefully at University Hospital with his family by his side on Feb 3, 2022 in his 85th year. He was a devoted father to Mike (Charlene) Glenn and Alynn (Cynthia), and loving grandfather to Cameron, Cohen, Noah, and Drew.

Jon was a lifetime resident of Ingersoll and as such had an extreme pride and passion for his community. He was recognized by the community on numerous occasions for his commitment and dedication to serving the town he loved so much.

He was a steadfast Downtown Businessman where along with his son Mike, they shared Millcreek Printing Inc. for over 45 years.

Jon was also a respected Mason, being a member of St. John’s Lodge #68 A.F.& A.M., Dereham Lodge #624, Oxford Harris Chapter #18, Royal Arch Masons, and Mocha Shrine in London since 1974

Jon had another lifelong passion and that was history. As such, he was an active member of the Norfolk Militia (heritage regiment) where he taught the history of the War of 1812 through historical re-enactments. He was a valued and dedicated volunteer at the Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum and served as the Museum Advisory Committee Chairman for over a decade. He could often be found tinkering with and operating the tractors and other equipment at the museum. This was most evident each year at the annual Harvest Festival event where he, and dear friend and fellow volunteer Ron Moore would tend to their beloved threshing machines.

Jon will be missed by his family and community, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he knew and mentored.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life and community open house will be held at the Kirwin Pavilion in Centennial Park at a future date yet to be announced. Donations in his honour can be made and will be directed to the Ingersoll Cheese and Agricultural Museum to help preserve his much-loved passion for community history.
