Obituary for John William LUYBEN

63 of Salford, passed away August 25, 2018 at Woodstock Hospital. Born in Sarnia, to Bert and Mary Luyben. John lived most of his life in Salford. John was a gentle giant with a heart of gold who loved his grandchildren, farming, and trains. In his spare time, John enjoyed watching the trains and playing with his tractor. John is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Diane (VanRyswyck). They built a beautiful family together, one son Eric (Amy), and two beautiful daughters Nicole (Jason) Fitzpatrick, and Karen (Will) Eby. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jack, Hannah, Brandon, Charlotte, and Zoë They loved their Papa. He is also survived by his siblings Jo Anne and Ted Gariepy, Bob and Cathy Luyben, Marlene and Henry Spanjers, Anita and Greg D’Hulster, and extended family and his in-laws Astrid and Peter, Jane, Gene, Leroy and Karen Van Ryswyck, and their families. His smiling face will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Bert and Mary, and his brother Bill and Margaret, and his brother-in-law Harry. John donated his eyes to Gift of Life.
Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church 131 Thames Street North, Ingersoll on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11 am Fr Gilbert Simard presider. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario (cheques accepted) would be appreciated.
