Peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in his 89th year. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Franca Bot (nee Dona) and by his children John (Rita) and Brenda (Adam Drake). Grandfather of Christian, Richard, Anthony, Gabriel, and Alessandra. Born in Beachville, was the youngest of three children of Italian immigrants Osvaldo and Luigia (nee Lucatelli) Bot. He is survived by his sisters Angie and Nellie along with many brother and sister in laws, nephews, and nieces. John worked over several decades with Beachvilime until his retirement in 1991, was a founding member of the Colombo Italian Club of Oxford, The Knights of Columbus, and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish Ingersoll. An avid fisherman he would be seen along many rivers and tributaries in the region. Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South Ingersoll, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Knights of Columbus prayers will be held at 8:30pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church 131 Thames Street North, Ingersoll on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 am with Fr. Dariusz Jagodzinski presider. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial donations to Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, or Canadian Diabetes Association (cheques accepted) would be appreciated.
