Obituary for Janet Elizabeth BAILEY (Pearson)

Bailey, Janet Elizabeth (Pearson)

Passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on July 6th, 2020. Born and raised in Ingersoll, and formerly of Montreal, in her 100th year. Wife of the late Allan Daniel Bailey. Greatest mother to sons John and his wife Lori, Allan, Peter, and his wife Sarah. Cherished and inspirational grandmother of Kara, Steven, Scott, Elissa, and Emily. Sister to the late Alec Pearson and Agnes (Pearson) Carr. Aunt to James Carr (deceased)and wife Maggie Carr, Nancy (Carr) Hynes and husband Glen Hynes, Jeffery, and Barbara Pearson. Robert (deceased), Diane, and David Bailey.

Mother graduated from the University of Toronto in 1944 with a BA, and after graduating enlisted in the Navy as a WREN. Upon discharge she was offered the opportunity to return to University by Veterans Affairs and completed her Master of Social Work from McGill University in 1948. She worked for the Children’s Service Centre in Montreal until her marriage to Allan in 1953.

Mother was a very social and outgoing person, enjoyed playing bridge and badminton with the ladies in Montreal West where she had numerous friends. She loved music, animals, reading and art. Mother was dedicated to raising her three boys to be the best they could be, by being honest, trustworthy, and to have great integrity. Mom was always there for us through thick and thin offering advice on many of life’s challenges. She will always be missed and in our hearts forever.

John, Allan, and Peter wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to cousins Maggie Carr and Nancy Hynes for their years of dedication in assisting mother with her everyday affairs and especially in her last several years when mom was not as able.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll 519-425-1600.
