Obituary for Jim Hopkins

Hopkins, James (Hop)

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 – only a month after his 80th birthday.

Beloved husband to Jackie (Hanley) for over 57 years. Jim will be lovingly missed by his son Bob (Carol) and daughter Lisa and Grand-dog Diego and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Arnold and Kathleen Hopkins and sister Peg (Bruce) Sheardown.

Jim and Jackie met when they were only 15 years old. They later got married and built a family together. Jim was a loyal employee for General Motors, Woodstock for over 30 years. There was no handyman project too big or too small for him to tackle. A devoted family man, he still liked to have a good time enjoying an occasional cold beer or two! Throughout his life he had a love for 50’s and 60’s music, GM cars, the Toronto Maple Leafs and his family cottage in Turkey Point.

A private family service is to be held later at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donations can be made in Jim’s memory to Parkinson Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation Canada and would be appreciated and may be done through McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 519-425-1600.
