Obituary for Isabel Yvonne WARD (Crozier)

Ward: Isabel Yvonne (née Crozier), 1936-2022

Died peacefully on the morning of June 5th, 2022, at the age of 85. Predeceased by her devoted husband, Allan. Loving mom to Roderick (Iwona), David, Pamela (Lorraine), and grandma to Daniel.

Born and raised in Bracebridge, Ontario, in her teens Isabel moved to attend the University of Toronto, where she earned degrees in Arts and Education. She met Allan in Toronto, they married and moved to Ingersoll in the early 1960s, and she began a long and meaningful career as an English teacher at I.D.C.I.

Isabel loved teaching, and students adored her. As a teacher, organizer, advocate, change maker, wife, mom, grandma, sister, friend, hostess, gardener, potter, and in so many other ways, she believed deeply in caring and community, in looking out for people, and in getting things done -- all with a warm, easy way and a wonderful sense of humour.

Throughout her 60 years in Ingersoll, Isabel was an active member of St. James Anglican Church and numerous community groups. In later years, she was especially passionate about her work for Parkinson Canada and involvement in the Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre.

Isabel remained close to her Muskoka roots, spending precious summers with family and friends at Riverside, the cottage she and Allan built on the shore of the south branch of the Muskoka River, on land settled by her grandparents.

She will be dearly missed.

Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, on Friday, June 10th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Service on Saturday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. at McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home (519-425-1600; www.mcbeathdynes.ca), with reception to follow at the Masonic Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alexandra Hospital Foundation or Woodingford Lodge Ingersoll.
