Obituary for Gloria Jean PETERS (Murray)

PETERS: Gloria Jean (nee Murray) of Ingersoll peacefully in her home with her husband at her side on August 7, 2021. Gloria’s story began in Montreal on December 5, 1943.

She was the loving daughter of Wesley Herbert and Bertha Victoria Murray (nee Brecknell). Gloria grew up with 3 siblings and remained close to her brother Walter until her death. There is a single trait that defines Gloria, her ferocious love for her family.

She met the love of her life, her husband Ken 59 years ago. They did almost everything together. They travelled, they dined, they danced, and shared each other’s interests. Each was the other’s rock. She was the main cheerleader for her three girls: her daughters Leslie (Greg), Lorna (Chuck), and her granddaughter Jesse (Jordi) who she loved with all of her heart. Gloria had many friends, most of them for many years. She was a loyal and loving friend. Her friends will find comfort in the memories of the many shenanigans they shared together while they shopped, danced, laughed, and shared. So many memories. Residents of Ingersoll will remember Gloria from her days working in Ingersoll. Perhaps she cared for your parent at Oxford Manor Nursing home as an aide, or checked out your groceries with a smile at Hurley’s IGA, or helped you find that perfect split-back nightie for your Mom at Jack’s department store. Know that she loved living in this town and enjoyed the people in it. Covid was not kind to Gloria. She was a social person who felt trapped away from the people who she loved to see and chat with around town and beyond. A bright spot during these days was the addition of her new Grandpuppy Mya. She loved that dog and Mya helped filled the time. It is due to this bond and the joy Mya brought Gloria that the family requests any donations to be made to the Humane Society.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place in the fall
