Obituary for George Edward ROOKE

ROOKE: George Edward – passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 9, 2015 at the Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll, George Rooke of Ingersoll and formerly of Mt. Elgin in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Bernice (Prouse) Rooke with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Dear father of Joanne & husband Marvin Patience of Thamesford, Paul & wife Mary of Ingersoll and the late Brent (2001) & Janet Hughes of Mt. Elgin. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Ashley & Harrie, Jordan & Rachel, Kale, Kyle & Victoria and by great grandchildren Quinn, Jackson & Ryder. He is survived by his sisters Cora Bamford and Ila MacLennan, by sister-in-law June Rooke and brother-in-law Joe & Corinne Scott and by many nieces and nephews, special cousins and many good friends. Predeceased by his parents Thomas & Olive (Lockey) Rooke, by his siblings Lawrence & Isabelle F. Rooke, Flossie & Wilbert McLaughlin, Marion & Roy Mauthe, Max & Isabelle M. Rooke, June & Bill Crabe, Harvey Rooke, Don & June Rooke and Dorothy Scott, by brothers-in-law Joe Bamford and Murray MacLennan, and by sister-in-law Betty & husband Ross Leaper. George was a lifetime farmer in the Mt. Elgin area until retiring to Ingersoll in 1990. He was a member of the Mt. Elgin United Church and was a 20 year volunteer member of the Mt. Elgin Fire Department. Relatives and friends may call at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home, 246 Thames St., S., for memorial visitation on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Memorial Service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Lynne Allin officiating. Interment of ashes to follow in Mt. Elgin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mt. Elgin United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.
