Heeney, Fred July 14, 1929 – November 18, 2022

On November 18th, 2022, Fred Heeney died in the house he was born in, after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and his dearest friend Tony Van Egdom.
Fred was born July 14, 1929 and was married to Elizabeth Moote for 67 years until her death in 2018.
He leaves behind his children, Ralph Heeney (Janet Whittington) Lynda Jakeman (Bruce) Kathy Boyd (Steve) and Phyllis Heeney (Paul Zdrazil), his beloved Tony Van Egdom and her entire family. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren (Gemma Haight, Will and Mac Jakeman, Hannah Arena, Chris and Darcy Boyd, Graham, Davis, and Taylor Whittington Heeney) and 10 great grandchildren.

In 2015 Fred was named Ontario’s Care Giver of the year and awarded the VON Heart and Home care award for his love and devoted care to Elizabeth.

He was a proud, progressive farmer and a faithful member of West Oxford United Church for his entire life. He remained active until a month before his death with lawn bowling (Ingersoll and Embro), yoga (Ingersoll seniors centre) and woodworking (building 6 grandfather’s clocks and his own coffin). He was a kind, fun loving, thoughtful man who made an impact on all who met him. He will be missed.

Family and friends will be received at McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Tuesday, November 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
