Obituary for BJ Van Kooten

Van Kooten, BJ - Brent Jason

With profound sadness, we announce BJ’s passing from a tragic accident. BJ - Brent Jason Van Kooten was born September 2, 1976 at Woodstock General Hospital, living an active life in Ingersoll, ON and later Verschoyle, ON until May 5, 2021.

BJ leaves behind his loved and cherished life partner, Lori Ann Barker. He is the beloved son of Gary and the late Lorna (2016) Van Kooten, will be forever loved and missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Kristy, and Rob Bossence. BJ was a doting and loving uncle to Addison Bossence. Will be greatly missed by Ann and Dennis Barker (parents-in-law) Kelly Hunter (sister-in-law) Hannah and Emily Hunter (nieces). This teddy bear of man will be sadly missed by many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Van Kooten, Orris, Stover and Barker families. He will be deeply missed by his family of choice, his friends.

Our sincerest thanks to the Ingersoll Fire and Emergency Services, Oxford OPP for their heroic and passionate efforts as well as the kindness and support of crisis workers. BJ’s kind hearted nature was shared with anyone who met him, and we ask that you honour him by sharing that level of kindness he so easily shared.

In lieu of flowers, our family wishes you to donate to the Kiwanis Club of Ingersoll, a true reflection of how important helping the youth in our area was to BJ. Due to Covid-19 a celebration of life will be reserved for a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, 519-425-1600.
