Obituary for Albina Agnese TONIN (Fighera)

TONIN, Albina Agnese (Fighera)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our mother, Albina Agnese Tonin (Fighera) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on February 19, 2023 in her 83rd year. She will be sorely missed by her loving husband Luigi Tonin, of almost 63 years whom she immigrated to Canada with from Italy. She was an incredibly devoted mother to her three children Claudio (Laura) Tonin, Joanne (Brian) MacDonald, and Anna (Derek) Cheevers. She was a very proud Nonna to Andrea (Sam), Kelsey, Derick (Jacklyn), Sabrina (Trevor), Joshua (Ashley), Noah, and Elijah. She was a cherished Bisnonna to Grayson and Hudson.

Our mom was from a large family, with many siblings in both Italy and Australia, she remained close to them over all these years through mail, phone calls and in recent years video calls. She leaves behind her dear sisters, Sister Anna, Sister Giovanna, Imelda and Enrichetta. Predeceased by her parents Antonio and Maria-Rina, three brothers Armando, Luigi, Rodolfo and three sisters Carmella, Ermelinda and Angela. Survived by her brother and sister in laws Guido Tonin (late Lida 2004), Ida Tonin (late Joe 2009), Mary Larabie (late John 2014), and Jim and Jenny Tonin. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and Australia.

Our mom was very family oriented, she always loved to cook and bake her special recipes, sew, and video call her sisters in Italy. She led a private life, where she was happiest at home with our dad Luigi, our extended family, and her trusted friends.

We would like to extend gratitude to so many caring individuals who helped give our mom such compassionate and respectful care, her only wish was to stay in her home and without all of you this would not have been possible. Dr. Sondhi, NP Pauline Markus, and Scott Simpson from Community Paramedics. Home Star service with Dianna, Renee, Sheila, Sonia, Sarah, and Natalie as well as special friend and caregiver Denise.

Friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Funeral Home 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll on Wednesday 6-8pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church 131 Thames Street North Ingersoll, on Thursday February 23, 2023 at 11am. Followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beachville Road Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Albina’s memory to the Sakura House or Canada Cancer society.
